How do I start paragliding with Le Gypaète?

Begin with the First Steps intro course (CHF 250): 2h on the training slope + 1 tandem teaching flight, in groups of max. 5. All gear is provided. If you want to go for the licence, follow up with First Flight Prep (CHF 270) or the Complete Package (CHF 520).

What are the prerequisites for the solo licence?

For the SHV/FSVL practical exam: 50 supervised solo flights, flying at 5 different sites, and passing the theory exam (aerodynamics, air law, equipment, meteorology, flying practice). The school supports you the whole way.

How much does the solo licence course cost?

Freedom Pack: from CHF 1,860 (30 supervised flights). Loyalty Pack: from CHF 2,315 (50 flights, 5% off + equipment benefit). No-purchase package: from CHF 2,910. Courses must be used within 12 months of invoicing.

What's the difference between the tandem licence level 1 and level 3?

Level 1: fly tandem with another licensed pilot (private/recreational use), permanent once obtained. Level 3: professional licence to carry non-pilot passengers and be paid, renewed every 3 years. Common prerequisites: solo licence + at least 200 flights + 2 years' experience + SIV course + 50 km XC flight.

From what age can I train?

For the licence course: from age 14. For tandem discovery flights: from age 6–7 with written consent from a parent or legal guardian. The school welcomes students all year round, including in winter.

Do you offer theory classes?

Yes! Every week, an online theory class covering the 5 official SHV subjects: aerodynamics, Swiss & international air law, equipment knowledge, meteorology, and flying practice. Sign up freely via the schedule — join from anywhere.

Can I train on weekdays?

Yes! Since January 2025, courses and flights are available on weekdays. Working weekends? Get in touch and we'll adapt the schedule to your availability.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Free postponement if the cancellation comes from the school. You can change a date up to 7 days before. Any cancellation by the client after that window is non-refundable, except in duly justified cases of force majeure.

Do you offer events and trips?

Yes! Birthday activities, team building, group discovery days (wing ground-handling, tandem flight, first solo flight). The school also organises paragliding trips across Europe and worldwide. Get in touch for a quote.

What insurance do I need?

Every participant needs non-professional accident insurance covering free flight. To fly with your own gear: liability insurance + a valid FSVL membership number. Le Gypaète provides all gear for beginners.

How do I pay?

By cash, Twint or online gift voucher (bank card). Payments must be made before the activity. Specific arrangements are possible for some courses — get in touch.
